Writer's Block: A mile in these shoes

Which living person would you choose to be for a week, and why?

I would like to be Roy Hodgson for a week, so I can start and play Daniel Agger in his natural position, try Glen Johnson in the wings, destroy the ineffective Lucas/Poulsen partnership, sub whenever it's necessary to sub a player, and make Liverpool play more attacking football.

What is your ultimate dream job? Do you think you'll ever live the dream?

My dream job? Well, I've always wanted to do documentaries for National Geographic. I want to stay in Africa and observe animals all year long. But I also don't mind being a fitness trainer for a football club, like say, Liverpool? And no , I don't have any ulterior motives. Haha.

Icon Meme

Snagged from chibisapphire

It's a meme. All you have to so is yell "ICONS!" at me, and I'll give you six of your icons to go talk about in your journal.

One of the earliest Ao no Exorcist icons that I made and it features Rin and Shiemi who I both love to bits. I love the dynamics of their relationship. They're an OTF, a one true friendship. I ship them too though I have to say I still like their BFF-status more. That and the manga seems to be leaning towards Yukio/Shiemi. At this point, anyway.

I found this fanart in Baidu and I knew I had to color it right away and turn it into an con because it's Pang Tong, one of my favorite strategists from Ravages of Time, and he is in a cute chibi form. It's very rare that one can use the name Pang Tong and the word cute in the same sentence.

Asuka and Shinji from the AU comic Gakuen Datenrouku. One annoys the fandom for being super whiny; the other for being super bitchy. And I love them to pieces. I think they're both interesting characters, especially when you consider their background and the past that made them who they are.

Rin with a hair clip! When Suguro suggested to Rin that he wear a hair clip in order to keep his fringe away from his eyes, I inwardly hoped that he would heed the suggestion and come the next chapter--voila!--he did! I knew I had to icon it right away. Plus, Rin really looks cute in this particular picture so who can resist making an icon out of it?

Kong Liang from Outlaws of the Marsh (a.k.a. Sukoden). I found this picture from a website that hosts illustrations for all the 108 stars from the novel. While Kong Liang isn't really one of my top favorites, I thought the artist's character design is good and so I had to icon it.

The famous image from True Blood's promotional poster. I have to admit I haven't seen a sngle episode of the HBO show. I ,however, have read all 10 books (including the short story compilation) and while I don't consider them the best books ever written, I enjoyed them a lot. True Blood is like junk food for the brain. It doesn't have a nutritional value but you enjoy eating it anyway.

From fannish5

Five canon moments that turned a casual fandom into a hardcore fandom for you.

Alex Rider - When Alex Pettyfer showed up for the first time in the beginning of the Stormbreaker movie. At the moment I knew I'd be in the fandom for Teh Pretty. Haha. Just kidding. It's not actually just one moment that turned Alex Rider into a hardcore fandom for me; it's an entire book and that book is Scorpia. I think it's the best of all the Alex Rider books published so far (with Eagle Strike coming a close second) and it's mostly because of the information we learned about Alex's dad John Rider and his link to the criminal organization, Scorpia. I was actually on the verge of being a hardcore fan during the last remaining pages of Eagle Strike; Scorpia just sealed it for me.

Alex Rider:Alex/Sabina - I was a bit indifferent about Sabina when she first showed up in Skeleton Key. I was expecting her to be just the usual decorative potential love interest. It wasn't until Eagle Strike that I began to really like her and the sense of normality that she brings to Cub's/Alex's character. Weirdly enough, the moment that made me ship them hardcore is hardly romantic.

Sorry, Cub. The feeling is not mutual.Collapse )

Really, Cub. You are held hostage by a psychopathic pop star who plans to destroy the world, and you say you're glad because at least Sab's there with you? Sab's response <3

The Hunger Games:Peeta Mellark - The canon moment that made me a hardcore fan? I've liked Peeta from the first book. I like his humor and just how plain nice he is. But there is one scene in Catching Fire that made Peeta a character that I will like for years and years and years.

With my paint box at home, I can make every color imaginable.Collapse )

The Hunger Games:Peeta/Katniss - The Peeta/Katniss moment that made me a fan?
Well, it involves Peeta being the selfless, nice guy that he is and Katniss showing that she cares about Peeta more than she lets on.Collapse )

The Dark is Rising Sequence: Bran/Will/Jane - I didn't ship anything in The Dark is Rising Sequenc before. However, checking the fandom activated my shipping goggles so when I reread The Dark is Rising recently, I saw why fandom is into Bran/Jane/Will. Greenwitch gave me Will/Jane; The Grey King gave me Bran/Will and Silver on a Tree gave me Bran/Jane--whch turned into an OT3 I loved after this scene:

Not so pretty as JaneCollapse )

Day six : a quote
Day seven : whatever tickles your fancy

For the last day, I decided to share some songs from my phone. These were randomly picked, by the way.

The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony
'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life
Try to make ends meet
You're a slave to money then you die
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
You know the one that takes you to the places
where all the veins meet yeah,
Whenever I listen to ths song, the only thing that comes to my mind is the last few scenes of Cruel Intentions wherein Reese Witherspoon PWNs Sarah Michelle Gellar and then she goes off to drive Ryan Philippe's car and wears his shades. That was a pretty cool scene. And I like that movie, sfm.
The Beatles (with Billy Preston) - Don't Let Me Down
I'm in love for the first time.
Don't you know it's gonna last.
It's a love that lasts forever,
It's a love that has no past.

There are no words to describe how much I love this song. It's a song that makes me want to be Yoko. It sounds better live, too.

Ash - Walking Barefoot
Yeah we've been walking barefoot all summer
It'll be sad my friend
To see it come to an end
Why can't we just quit

Tim Wheeler will never be of my favorite vocalists judging by voice quality. He'll always be one my favorite songwriters though.
Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah
Well I heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do ya?
Well it goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Of all the Hallelujah covers in existence, I still like this one best. It's also my favorite Jeff Buckley song, too. *sigh* Talented man, died too early.
The Moldy Peaches - Anyone Else But You
Here is the church and here is the steeple
We sure are cute for two ugly people
I don't see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

I really find this song cute and funny and romantic at the same time.
Moonpools & Caterpillar - Soon
one day soon its going to happen to you
and when it does it wont be pretty
one day soon its going to happen to you
and when it does...i wont be there

I wonder is anyone else still remembers Moonpools and Caterpillar. I thought they're going to make it big during the 90's but they just disappeared all of sudden. 0_0 .
Richard Hawley - Baby, You're My Light
Next time the feeling is the same, don't have to show it
A window of belief is where you own it
And as life goes on you know you have to face
All you find
'Cos baby, you're my light
Is it strange that I have songs from the Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist movie soundtrack but I have never seen the movie? Cool soundtrack though and I love the book sfm. I must watch the movie one of these days.
The Smashing Pumpkins - Landslide
Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changing ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life
?
I am typing words here just so there's something written in this column. XD Smashing Pumpkins <3

For some reason, I can take this quote off my mind ever since I read Jasper Fforde's The Fourth Bear. It never fails to make me smile.

“A life lived in fear is a life half lived. A life half lived is fear lived in half. A life half feared is fear half lived.”
---Mr.Hoffman, The Fourth Bear

And since I'm so into The Hunger Games right now, here's one of may favorite quotes from that series:

“Yes, frosting. The final defense of the dying.”
---Peeta Mellark, The Hunger Games

Let's not be stingy tonight.I'm recommending a book as well as sharing its ebook.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before-and survival.
