Let's not be stingy tonight.I'm recommending a book as well as sharing its ebook.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before-and survival.

I've been seeing The Hunger Games and Catching Fire displayed everywhere and suddenly remembered you reccing it in my flist (that is, in this post lol). The plot sounds interesting, so I think I'll give it a try! /downloads

Yeah, I'm actually surprised that NBS has stocked on The Hunger Games Trilogy. But it's also a good thing so I won't have to resort to buying the books online. Sayang nga lang the paperback versions won't be out until next year. I'm still waiting for that...or the U.K. covers. The hardbound version is really expensive and it's not even as pretty as the international covers. But I digress.

The Hunger Games is an awesome read. I can hardly put it down. I have a few complaints (like I thought the whole love triangle was unnecessary) but they didn't really make me enjoy the book any less.

Oh, by the way, I discovered just now---belated happy birthday! Hope you had a great one.

Finally finished up the first book, now I'm trying to figure out where I can possibly get my hands on the second. I agree about it being too expensive T_T The prices I see all fall at around Php 700+ and my parents are totally against me buying them D: Just you wait, I'm gonna earn my own money real soon!

Is romance one of the trilogy's main genres? Having read the first book I only have a vague idea of where Peeta and Katniss's relationship stands (which part is real and which is only pretense? No wait, Katniss' is pretty clear since it's told in her POV after all but what about Peeta's?). There are friggin' hints everywhere but I'm having reservations with my assumptions and- and it's driving me crazy! ...or maybe I'm just slow at picking things up OTL; And wait, so there really is a triangle? I thought I was only imagining it. Or again, I may just be too slow. DX

Thankies! Yup, I had a blast :D

Php 700.00 is really heavy on the budget. T_T Last time I bought an expensive book was a few months ago. It was around Php 900.00 and it was Inkdeath, which is really

pretty,cover-wise, and the story's really good too so it's worth the money I spent but I don't think I'd ever spend that much on a single book again...even if it's for The Hunger

Games. 2010 isn't that far. For practical reasons, I'd just wait for the paperback version. That and I'm still really hoping for the UK versions to reach the Philippines so that I

can have my Peeta cover. LOL

About the romance, well I don't consider it one of the main genres of the books but the fandom focuses on it more. Fandom cares mostly about who Katniss chooses in the

end. Is it Gale? Is is Peeta? Catching Fire shows Katniss' indecisiveness as far as the two boys are concerned. Sometimes, I just want to smack Katniss in the head and

tell her to choose already! I don't really care whether she chooses Gale or Peeta, despite being a Peeta/Katniss, supporter; I just want her to make up her mind and make

things clear for everyone. If she wants Gale, the she should just stick with Gale and stop acting like she couldn't live without Peeta. That really is Katniss' problem:She says

one thing and does another. Oops, sorry about the rant.XD

Anyway, here's Catching Fire. Enjoy!

O YAY THANK YOU ♥ /downloads again lol

Cornelia Funk's? I didn't know it was that costly O_O; LOL @ Peeta cover :DDD

Eh, so that mean's the second installment focuses more on the romance. Does that mean I won't be seeing any more of the badass she showcased during the Games (even if it's already ended)? I have to admit I like her wits and the way she deals with survival stuff the most. Ah well, I guess I'll have to see for myself once I read Catching Fire. So far I'm having no problems with Peeta/Katniss, except for the fact that she seems to be the manlier of the two lol. As for Gale/Katniss... hmmm. We'll see. ;D

I-I believe it's spelled 'Funke' OTL sorry @_@;;

Better believe it, but I have to say the hardbound Inkworld Trilogy books have the right to be costly. They are that pretty. *_* And I'd pay 700 for a Peeta cover, honestly. XD

Well, actually Catching Fire is still about the games. How? I won't spoil it for you. :D Romance is there but it isn't really the focus; fandom just loves to focus on it though. And about Peeta being less manly than Katniss, well, it can't be help. He's a baker after all as opposed to Katniss who lives by hunting. I really like it when Peeta makes a joke about his job while in the games. My favorite quote has to be "Frosting:The final defense of the dying." XD

I'm pretty okay with Gale/Katniss too. I don't mind if the trilogy ends that way. All I care about right now is for Peeta to have a good end, whether he lives or dies. His character deserves that much.
